Gothic Fiction is an Adventure game from ERS Game Studios, it plays like a normal Hidden Object Adventure games but with no Hidden Object scenes. Okay, we don't really know how to classify the theme of this game, it's a mixed of Fantasy, Medieval, Monstrous and Horror. The developers should only focus on one theme, since this game feels very much like they're throwing everything together, a bit of this and a bit of that. As an Adventure game, we expected a good variety of creative puzzles to solve, Gothic Fiction has some of this, few puzzles are unique but most of them are pretty easy and some are even annoying! Now, let's move on to some good bits about the game. Gothic Fiction has fantastic graphics, all scenes are full of tasks to do and they're all very interesting to explore. Throughout the game, you also have to collect notebook's pages which will tell you the story of the evil witch which is also a nice little addition. Although the story is not overly new but it's still a pretty nice twist from the witch's revenge theme. The game involves live-acting cut scenes, and the actors and actresses did surprisingly well in this game, the voice overs are also great! Music is up to the standard which provides a chilling atmosphere to the game, all sound and visual effects are also very stunning! There is a map in the game which is very well designed and the sketches are somewhat nice-looking, it tells you the locations, objectives and things to do but doesn't allow you to jump to other locations which leaves us to run around places at many stages. The main game has a reasonable length while the Bonus Chapter is very well made, however, a bit too short. We believe this is the third attempt fro ERS-G to create a pure Adventure game, the first attempt of Azada: In Libro was fantastic but Dark Alleys: Penumbra Motel was not as impressive, Gothic Fiction stands between the two games, it is not amazing but still very well worth your time.
